Ski Lodge | A Contemporary Alpine Chalet

This mountainside home features a light wood palette that is exposed both from the inside and exterior facade. A-frame cross laminated oak provides the structural framework to the building.

The chalet is arranged into three volumes, orientated to maximise  the views of the mountains and nestled into the contours of the mountainside. The bedroom wing is orientated to the east to catch the morning light and the dining area and spa orientated towards the west and setting sun. The dynamic south facing element contains the living room and is cantilevered, projecting over the dropping landscape of the mountain and taking in the best views and sunlight.

The plinth of the chalet is a dark grey long format brick, with a pale oak cladding to the roof. Large glazed openings are placed to maximise the views from the communal dining hub of the building.

Timber flooring creates warmth in the living areas of the chalet, with underfloor heating, the chalet is kept warm and dry. Polished concrete is laid to the main entrance hall and within the main circulation areas of the chalet.

The bedrooms to the ground floor are luxurious suites, with ensuite dressing areas and a copper clad loggia to enjoy the mountain views.

On the first floor, ensuite bedrooms are nestled into the roof and are cosy, timber clad with polished copper light fittings.
